In chapter 153, Guts, Luca and Isidro finally reach the enormous Tower of Conviction and secretly enter through a hidden trash chute. Luca asks a man inside to help her find Jerome, while Guts immediately moves deeper into the tower to search for Casca. At the same time, the situation in the torture chamber becomes chaotic: Casca has escaped from the iron maiden and is surrounded by the spirits of the tortured dead, which have taken the form of a huge mass of blood. The blood begins spreading across the chamber and consumes one of the torturers, leaving only bones behind. Serpico leads Farnese and the others toward safety, while Puck remains behind with Casca and watches helplessly as she becomes completely engulfed by the blood.
