In Berserk manga chapter 7, titled “The Guardians of Desire (4),” Guts finally defeats the Count after a brutal battle, leaving the apostle close to death. As the Count’s Beherit activates, he is confronted by the God Hand and offered another chance to live in exchange for sacrificing someone important to him. The Count refuses to sacrifice his daughter, showing that some part of his humanity still remains. Guts then demands that the Count tell him where to find the God Hand, bringing the battle to a dramatic end.
