In Berserk manga chapter 96, Guts fights the possessed tree while Jill watches in shock. The tree attacks him with its branches, but Guts uses his mechanical arm and cannon to destroy it before cutting the creature in half. As the sunlight reaches the spirits trapped inside the tree, they dissolve. Meanwhile, the surviving bandits flee deeper into the forest and encounter a strange group of flying creatures.
