In chapter 125, the night’s supernatural attack leaves Farnese emotionally shaken, and a lingering spirit takes advantage of her confusion and fear. As dawn approaches, the spirit finally leaves her, allowing her to regain control of herself. Serpico arrives and covers her, while Farnese, overwhelmed by what has happened, orders him to kill Guts. Serpico refuses and instead reminds her that their mission is only to capture him. He then allows Guts to leave, although the two briefly exchange attacks before parting. Puck notices that Serpico can actually see him, revealing that Serpico is more perceptive about the supernatural than he had previously shown.
