In chapter 105, Jill hesitates when Rosine asks her to become one of the elves, and Rosine starts wondering whether Jill has feelings for Guts. She reassures Jill that the Misty Valley is protected by “guardians” who keep adults away from the children. Meanwhile, Guts enters the Misty Valley and discovers a group of former bandits waiting for him. They transform into insect-like creatures and attack him one after another. Guts manages to overcome them, but after the fight he looks up and realizes that a much larger group of these creatures is waiting among the trees.
