Berserk Manga Chapter 144
In chapter 144, Luca, Nina, and Casca return to their tent, where the people who now believe Casca is a witch begin giving them gifts out of fear and respect. Luca worries that their sudden wealth will attract the attention of the Holy See, so she tells the girls to share the gifts with the other refugees. Soon afterward, the Holy See’s Hunters arrive and drag Pepe away after someone reports her as a heretic. Luca steps in to protect her and confronts the Hunters. Just as one of them is about to strike Luca, Guts appears and catches the whip with his artificial arm. He demands to know whether they have seen a woman with a Brand. When the Hunters attack him, Guts quickly defeats them. Isidro also appears, steals the Hunters’ keys, and brings them to Luca. Puck then introduces himself and Isidro to Luca, while Guts remains focused entirely on finding Casca.
